GST Launch:PM Modi says ‘Good and Simple Tax’ may cause minor problems, but people will adjust soon’

At a glittering special midnight session of the Parliament, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today led India to its biggest indirect tax reform – Goods and Services Tax (GST).At the Parliament’s historic Central Hall, PM Modi described GST as a good and simple tax.  Modi said GST may cause some minor problems but people will adjust soon. “Even eyes need to adjust to new spectacles,” PM Modi said.”GST is transparent and fair system that prevents black money and corruption and promotes new governance culture,” Modi said in his speech.The Parliament House was decked up for GST rollout which was welcomed at the stroke of midnight.The midnight session of Parliament is reminiscent of India’s independence on the midnight of August 14 and 15 in 1947 when first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru gave the historic speech on India’s ‘Tryst with Destiny’.
