in regional transit projects, especially the transport corridor from the Persian Gulf to the Black Sea. India’s Ambassador to Armenia Yogeshwar Sangwan at a meeting held at the Iranian embassy in the Armenian capital Yerevan on Monday said that Indian businesses are keen on investing in Armenia
and discussed trilateral cooperation with Iran and Armenia. The transport corridor Europe-Caucasus-Asia (TRACECA) is an international transport programme involving the European Union and 14 member States of the Eastern European, Caucasian and Central Asian region. It aims to strengthen economic relations, trade and transport in the regions of the Black Sea basin, South Caucasus and Central Asia.
President Serzh Sargsyan visited India in November last year. During the visit, the two countries had discussed ways to further strengthen future cooperation in diverse areas, including defence, space, trade and investment, science and technology, education, culture and people to people contacts, says a statement by the External Affairs Ministry.
Iran’s Ambassador to Armenia Seyyed Kazem Sajjadi welcomed India’s cooperation with Iran in various economic fields within the regional framework, Iranian news agency IRNA reported. Iran officially joined TRACECA in 2009 as the 14th member of the corridor.
