GUWAHATI : A jawan of Assam Rifles was wounded in a grenade attack in Manipur’s capital city Imphal on Tuesday. He has been identified as N Prem Singh.
Unidentified miscreants hurled two grenades at the office of the military unit in Imphal, where the jawan of the 23rd battalion of Assam Rifles was posted.
According to reports, the incident took place between 6:30 – 7:00 pm.
The jawan, who suffered minor injuries, was rushed to the hospital.
Senior Police and Army officials reached the spot after the blast. An investigation is under way.

Grenade attack can disturb removal of AFSPA
In recent days the much awaited AFSPA act withdrawl process has become fast.
Central home ministry has withdrawn this act from few areas.
Even Central home state minister Mr Kiraj Rijiju has assured that this can be reviews for other area depending upon the situation.
This type of grenade attack will make army and security agencies more vigilant.
This is stop the process of withdrawl of AFSPA from other areas of North East India.
This is the second bomb blast within 24 hours in Manipur.
Earlier a bomb exploded in front of the AR gate at Sanjeevani near PDA office situated at the north AOC in Manipur injuring a jawan of the Assam Rifles on Tuesday.
As per security officials, no militant outfit has claimed any responsibility yet, but a thorough investigation is on while the area has been cordoned off for security reasons.
