A day after five civilians were killed, more than 40 people including three BSF personnel sustained injuries, the international border in all three districts of Jammu witnessed calm on Thursday.
International border from Kathua to Akhnoor since Wednesday night witnessed calm and no incident of cross border firing has been reported so far.
“There is lull since night on borders,” police sources here said.
They said that no firing has taken place since midnight.
He however, said that more than 10,000 people are taking shelters in camps established by the government in school buildings, community halls, temples in all the three shelling.
“People are being provided basic facilities besides drinking water and food while team of doctors have also been deputed in the camps to keep monitoring on border dwellers especially those having health ailments,” they added.
The schools in the radius of three to five kilometres from the border, have also been shut as preventive measure.
