Lightning claims 13 lives in odisha in one day
As many as 13 people were killed and four sustained burn injuries when lightning struck them at various places in Odisha on Friday.Sources said the lightning deaths were reported from Balasore, Mayurbhanja, Khurda and Kendrapara,Nayagarh and Nuapada.
The highest number of seven deaths were reported from Balasore, four from Mayurbhanja and one each from Khurda and Keonjhar district.Almost all the victims were labourers and died while working in farm land when the killer lightning struck them.
Official sources said in 2018-19 as many as 163 people were killed in lightning strike in different parts of the state.Odisha government has already declared Lightning as a disaster and recently signed an agreement with an American agency to provide prior information about the lightning to check casualty.
