The AAP government on Tuesday enhanced the cash incentive for Olympic gold medalists from the city to Rs three core from existing Rs one crore.
This decision was taken in the Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, chaired by the Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
The Cabinet also approved the Directorate of Education proposal for manifold increase in the cash incentive for the outstanding sportspersons of Delhi for their achievements in Asian Games and Commonwealth Games including Para Games.
The revised amount of cash incentive in all the categories will be applicable from the beginning of the current financial year (the tournaments held after April 1, 2018).
During the last three- four years, sportspersons of Delhi have excelled in many games. They have shown extraordinary performance in recently concluded Commonwealth Games 2018 and different international and national tournaments.
The eligibility conditions are– a player should be bonafide resident of Delhi for the last three years, and a player will be provided the incentive only once for his/her achievements (Gold, Silver and Bronze medals in a year).
The new rates of awards approved by the Cabinet, for Olympic Games and Paralympic Games for Gold medal Rs three crore from existing Rs one crore, Silver Rs two crore from earlier Rs 50 lakh and Bronze from existing Rs 30 lakh to Rs one crore.
For Asian Games (ASIAD) and Para-Asian Games for Gold Rs one crore, Silver Rs 75 lakh and Bronze Rs 50 lakh.
For Commonwealth Games and Commonwealth Games for Para for Gold Rs 50 lakh, Silver Rs 40 lakh and for Bronze Rs 30 lakh.
